Inabitofapickle began with a simple mission:
Help pickle lovers discover great pickles.
Since then, we've reviewed pickles from Australia and around the world, explored the many styles pickling, and created resources to help people better understand the wonderful world of pickled cucumbers.
The Pickle Universe is the best place for new visitors just starting the pickle journey, or for the experienced pickle master wanting to brush up on their craft.

Not all pickles are created equal.
Some are sweet and tangy. Others are sharp and crunchy. Some get their flavour from vinegar, while others develop complex sour notes through fermentation.
The Pickle Universe is our attempt to map the wonderful world of pickled cucumbers and help pickle lovers discover styles they may never have tried before.
Use the chart above as a guide to understand where different pickle styles sit based on two key characteristics: Sweetness vs Sourness and Softness vs Crunch.
The Two Pickling Methods
Vinegar Pickled
The most common method of making pickles. These pickles use vinegar to create their distinctive tang and preserve the cucumbers. They are typically crisp, refreshing and highly versatile. Common styles include Dill and Cornichons.
Fermented Pickled
The oldest and perhaps most fascinating style of pickle. Fermented pickles rely on beneficial bacteria rather than vinegar to develop flavour. The result is a complex, earthy and often intensely sour profile. Common styles include Full Sour and Half Sour.
The Pickle Pack was designed to let you explore some of the most popular areas of the Pickle Universe at home. It contains three spice blends:
Dill
Inspired by traditional Dill and Kosher Dill styles.
Sweet
Inspired by the sweeter Bread & Butter styles.
Spicy
Inspired by the Modern Flavours styles, with added character and kick.
